UK - Wii Sports Resort Debuts at Number One

7/27/09

Following the premiere of the Wii MotionPlus controller this summer, Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort, which fully utilizes the technology, has taken first place on the UK software sales chart.

EA remains strong with Harry Potter in second (sales down 4%), and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 in third (sales down 3%).

Wii franchises have sold well; Wii Fit is at number four with just a 3% increase in sales. Fight Night Round 4 saw its sales decline 24%, dropping it to 6th place.

Other Wii titles that utilize MotionPlus technology could see an increase in sales in the near future, including Virtua Tennis 2009 in 13th place, and Grand Slam Tennis in 25th.
