UK - Halo Wars Loses First Battle -- To Killzone 2

3/2/09

Killzone 2 took over the number 1 spot in the UK this past week, knocking off newcomer Street Fighter IV. The anticipated FPS sequel is the 4th fastest selling Sony-published title ever in the UK.

Halo Wars, the final offering from recently-closed Ensemble Studios, debuts in the number 2 spot. It sold 17.6% of Halo 3’s record-breaking launch week figure.

Sales were down significantly on titles such as FIFA 09 (-24%), Call of Duty: World at War (-21%), and Ben 10: Alien Force (-29%). On the plus side, there is quite a bit of diversity of publishers in the Top 10.

Coming up in March: new franchise installments like Resident Evil 5, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Tom Clancy’s HAWX.
